Idea for reflection 14

Are young members given suitable attention within the Society’s national and international structure? Do they follow the Society’s news via the different media and international website? How could we improve this representation at all levels? How could we improve the information provided at both a national and international level?

We usually notice the Society's news via the international website. I think internet and email are the most common nad convenient ways to spread out information nowadays

The young have not been attended upon until of late like the Salamaca gathering. Some few youths follow the society's news while others are not informed. To improved on representation, the youths should have e-mail.The society literature should be given to the youths. The youth wing should be structured autonomously from elderly.

The youth are open to the news and events of SSVP through internet and e-mails. I don’t have any personnel experience in the international level about the position given for the youth but in national level the situations is not satisfactory. It is us who go after the information and get it. Now nobody is excused for not having the media for technology but they use it less frequently to spread the necessary information. The only way to manage this is that we have to take the responsibility and we should go after the information. Then we don’t need anybody to be blamed for not providing us the necessary information.

Yes, the youth in India feel that the attention towards them is slowly and steadily increasing in the national and international structure. Not everyone are aware about current happenings in the society. The idea of updation of news on the website is good although it could be made better if the conferences and councils familiarise their members (not only youth) about availability and prominence of such information as this helps in understanding the current happenings in the society and also helps in sharing best practices across

In trinidad, there is a general focus on youth and young adults because we are experiencing very high crime levels today. As part of the National executive's mandate, a youth Secretariat now exists and is focused on interms of opportunities for improvement. The rip to Spain is one example. More focus, however, must be made in th earea of communication and building the international link into our existing structure. We need to increase our contacts and communication with other youths throughout the world, to get to know about their experiences and share ours as young Vincentians. The internet is available to most of us, but because it is not part of our mmeetings(structure) to discuss international events and activities, the internet news is often bypassed. I think that it starts with young people since the older persons are not so internet savvy as young people are.
