Idea for reflection 22

Do the younger members wish to communicate any further concerns to the Council General, besides the three themes dealt with during the Youth Days? What are they?

I think the financial independence of young people is needed. I'd like to talk about the ways the young can work with independent financial power. How can we do?

-Brief training about the working of the society.
-Clarification and explanation of the rule of the society.
-Twinning of conferences.

There is a perception that there has been only "lip service" being paid towards youth from the International Council General and that youth is a low priority with less than 6000 Euro budgeted by ICG at this time.

First Recommendation: An increased and reasonable budget that will allow for an INTERNATIONAL YOUNG VINCENTIAN MANUAL to be developed by the end of 2009. This would be a significant way to demonstrate that ICG is serious about developing young Vincentians.

Second Recommendation: That ICG encourages or requires all NATIONAL COUNCILS to have a youth delegate on their National Boards with a vote. This would show that ICG sees the value of youth, once again, at all levels.

If we can discuss the three themes in depth we will surely cover all the required areas we should look in and we’ll be able to come up with better solutions to the prevailing situations of the SSVP nationally and internationally.

Three areas I would appreciate discussion on are:
1.Twinning of Conferences
2.Strategies to ensure that Youth Vincentians remain committed and responsible in their role in the Society
3. Management of people within groups/conferences as well as managing money
