Idea for reflection 8

Are our younger members aware that the problems that our founders dealt with in the 19th century continue to exist in many parts of the world, even in the most prosperous countries? Are they aware that many traditional forms of poverty have not disappeared?

Most of the youth in Sri Lanka are not aware of the problems that our founders dealt with in the 19th century. It is because some members hardly know the history of SSVP. We have printed some booklets and distributed them among the members sometime ago but it has not solved the problem completely. Therefore they do not know whether they are the problems our founders dealt with.

Yes. Most of the youth in Trinidad are aware that the traditional forms of povert ystill exist. They are also aware that the tools used today are improved and there ar emuch mor eresources available. As queenbee said, we would always have poor among us. It is how economies function, but our call as Vincentians is to assist in whatever way9s) to alleviate the effects of poverty among the poor by providing opportunities for self sufficiency.
